Malta’s inflation rate rose to 2% in February 2025 from 1.8% in the previous two months.

This marked the highest reading since November 2024, as prices accelerated for food and non-alcoholic beverages (2.6% vs 1.8% in January), recreation and culture (2.3% vs 1.7%), and restaurants and hotels (2.9% vs 2%).

At the same time, costs rebounded for furnishings, household equipment and maintenance (0.5% vs -0.1%), while it declined at a lesser extent for communication (-4.2% vs -5.2%).

On the other hand, inflation slowed for clothing and footwear (0.2% vs 0.4%), transport (2.6% vs 4.4%), and miscellaneous goods and services (3.6% vs 3.9%).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 0.4% in February, the same pace as in the preceding period.
