In a world where ketamine runs free in the White house, where self proclaimed religious leaders hang their youth from the highest cranes, where every citizen’s life is surveilled at every step by an all-ecompassing government or where there is no shame for genocide or war crimes, there stands the European dream. We should not let them take it away from us; the Ukranians are already in. This photo is likely form 2014, but seeing a man born and raised in the Soviet Union, standing next to the flag of Europe (with hand-sowed stars), making his stand against the agents of oppression in the back..its just a powerful reminder of how real (and near) this fight is.

  4. One day, be it in 10 or 100 years, we Europeans will look back to the 2020s and realize just how much of a sacrifice Ukraine (involuntarily) made for Europe. It will fill chapters in history books and in a future union (which could resemble something more like a federation) there will be a founding myth including Urkainian bravery.

    All that is to say I do feel ashamed that we haven’t done more.. yet. I hope things will change now. My own country is a disgrace in this regard, so I am thankful for all the other European countries that made up for our idiocy.

  10. I hate the EU but at the same time I know we need it, but its not right some people sit in germany and decide what we in district norway are allowed to do. Also made our electricity 4x more expensive.

  14. The struggle did not even happen for EU member countries, or very little. The reality is that we do way too little to help UKRANIANS. We need to do a lot more and faster . Please donate to UKRAINE, LEARN HOW TO MAKE DRONES 🙂

  21. How’s Ukraine exactly defending Europe? They were invaded and they put up a fight, i’m pretty sure every country would do the same. Trying to paint Ukrainians as sacrificing themselves for Europe smells of EU propaganda to use this conflict to build some kind of European identity and eventually become a federation.

  24. The Ukraine flag yes, the EU flag is a cheap knockoff of the United States just trying to put little countries in a trench coat. The EU acts like some powerful entity but starts to worry about collapse the moment the U.S. puts tariffs on it. Europe has been the cause of some of the worst atrocities and problems we face in the modern world and to try and paint yourself as a beacon? What an actual joke.

    TLDR; Ukraine is based, EU did nothing to help them
