Eau Claire (WQOW) – Early in-person voting began Tuesday morning for the April 1st election, and officials in Eau Claire expect a high turnout.

Besides local races, the state supreme court and state superintendent races are on the ballot.

Officials say April elections tend to attract the most voters, but they are expecting an even higher turnout than usual.

Requests for absentee ballots have skyrocketed since the February election.

“We’re expecting a pretty high turnout, we’ve seen a lot of interest in absentee voting, mail in absentee voting, as well as in-person absentee voting,” said Eau Claire Deputy City Clerk Eric Gilge. “We’ve seen a pretty steady stream of individuals coming in for the in-person absentee voting already.”

The elections office also reminds you to grab your photo I.D. before you head to the polls.

You can vote early in-person through Friday, March 28th.
