Hello, has anybody had any experience selling a car to a US citizen?
I’m currently trying to sell my campervan and a man from the US wants to buy it and then drive it round Europe.
What export papers might I need? Is there a way he can buy it without an address here in Switzerland?Has anybody else done such a thing that might be able to shed some light on do’s and don’t?
Yes, it’s legit. I have the deposit and I have spoken with his family.
Sorry if this has been asked before I have searched but couldn’t find an answer

Why not let him worry about the exporting and just sell it here?
You can sell it. What he does with it, how he gets license plates, insurance, export papers etc, are all his problems.
As always, only handover the car with removed plates and canceled gray card. To facilitate the procedure, you might do it on the car park of your local SAN/StVA.
You just sell the car. Everything else is not your problem.
This sounds like a him problem… He needs an address to register it here. I cannot find any answer about trying to register a car in the US if the car never physically goes to the US, but I don’t think that would be possible.
If bought and registered here, then there’s no export/import.
American here….. If he’s wearing a red hat, RUN!
Just whatever you do, double make sure it’s not a scam.
Just saying there are export number plates for 2 weeks or a month, after that if he has a way to get it insured in the US or elsewhere it may be ok… (I’ve heard of Spanish people being able to a few years back) funny how stereotypical unhelpful the answers are…
I omce sold my ex·company van for six big paper bills, we did put our signatures on our own paperwork but I’m pretty sure it’s useless.
If you have a buyer who doesn’t ask for anything and you agree with the price, just sell.
Edit: as some other have said, no personal info on the grey card, get distancing from it as soon as legally possible.
