Zillah, Wash. — The Yakima County Development Association (YCDA) and partner organizations have launched a three-part business outreach series in Zillah, aimed at fostering economic growth and strengthening the local business ecosystem.

“So, the Yakima County Development Association and partner organizations are here in the city of Zillah to let small business owners know what resources are available and no cost them to help them grow their business,” said Jon Smith, Executive Director of YCDA.

The first event, held today, brought together various partners to offer one-on-one opportunities for businesses to address needs in operations, human resources, finance, strategic planning, and more.

“The next two events that we’ll be having are gonna be focused on really listening to businesses to see what we can do to become even more business friendly,” said Michael Grayum, City of Zillah City Administrator.

Zillah’s city council prioritizes growth, and the series aims to identify opportunities for improvement in codes, policies, and information to support community investment.

“So, we’re looking at where are those opportunities that we have, whether it be with our codes, with our policies, with our information, because we just want to continue accelerating action and support those that are wanting to invest in our community,” said Grayum.

Once the series concludes, the city plans to develop its first strategic plan and update its comprehensive plan to guide future growth.

“One is gonna be the city’s first strategic plan that we’re developing. The second is going to be in the city’s comprehensive plan. and that’s gonna take a look at, how are we gonna grow for the future?” said Grayum.

The YCDA and its partners are committed to ensuring that businesses throughout the valley have access to resources for growth and success.

“Yakima County Development Association and all the partners here want to make sure that businesses throughout the valley and business owners have access to the resources that we offer to help their businesses grow and thrive,” said Smith.

The next events are scheduled for April 22 and May 20, providing the public with opportunities to offer feedback on their ideas.
