  1. Putin agreed yesterday on a call with President Trump to halt strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure for 30 days. As long as Ukraine does the same. Putin declined for now to agree to a broader cease-fire that the U.S. and Ukraine had proposed. President Volodymyr Zelensky said he was open to the truce on attacks on energy infrastructure.

    2. This just means they can stockpile the missiles for next month
    3. Trump might even use that as a justification to not restart sending Patriot missiles which leaves Ukraine worse off if/when the ceasefire ends
    4. Putin can simply switch to attacking his next favourite target which is other civilian infrastructure
    5. Winter is over anyway so there’s not as much benefit hitting the energy grid now

  4. From what I’m able to read into it, “energy infrastructure” includes oil refineries and facilities.

    So essentially Russia is only willing to agree to a deal where it stops bombing the Ukrainian power grid for 30 days but Ukraine would also be restricted from destroying its oil industry.

    Apparently Putin will only agree to a full ceasefire if Allies stop sending arms and providing intelligence to Ukraine for the duration. Which would allow Russia to manoeuvre forces and equipment for that timeframe, stock and arm up its front lines while Ukraine gets no new armaments beyond what it can build itself.

  6. So Russia does not agree to stop bombing Ukrainian civilians.
