Armenia, Azerbaijan agree to sign peace deal • FRANCE 24 English

Long-warring Armenia and Azerbaijan announced on Thursday they had agreed to sign a peace deal after over three decades of conflict. Armenia agreed in principle to remove its troops from its border with Azerbaijan and withdraw all legal claims against its neighbour. Azerbaijan requested Armenia amend its constitution to renounce any claim to the predominantly Armenian Nagorno-Karabakh region, which Azerbaijan seized in a 2023 lightning offensive many labelled as ethnic cleansing.

  4. Peace settlement may last for now. But there's a big disparity in economic – and therefore military, power between the two sides at the moment. This may not last for all time. Revanchist movements tend to happen when a weaker power gets stronger again and feels able to challenge a previous territorial settlement. France of course does not need to be told this.

  10. This is terrible for the Armenian people, we have lost so much land. Keep in mind, aliyev has violated ceasefire’s in the past, so nothing is stopping him from annexing Armenia, especially now that there aren’t any Russian “peacekeepers”. Tbf, they didn’t do anything anyway. Karabakh has almost always been Armenia (brief Persian/Parthinian control throughout history), Armenia will prevail, as it always does 🇦🇲💪

  12. Baku, Azerbaijan, doesn't want peace, they unfailingly attach & add (more and more) unreasonable contingencies that are designed to humiliate and emasculate the People of Armenia. This is a lot of BS coming from Baku.

  15. I'm happy for both countries, these wars and tensions have been going on for far too long and the only ones suffering at the hands of the greedy ones in power are the innocent civilians. It's 2025, and it's time for both countries to move on to the future towards better things.

  16. As an Azerbaijani,it will be great,if this happens.But i don't like France24 acting like Azerbaijan invaded armenian territory,Azerbaijan just recapture its internationally recognized territory.armenia is agressor
