Sir Gareth Southgate: Boys need role models, not gaming and porn

   Probably wouldn’t hurt to stop telling them they’re the root of all evil 24/7 too, mind.

6. Why exactly are gaming and pornography lumped together here?

   Pornography, unless you are participating, is a passive activity.

   Gaming is by definition active and requires some degree of mental endeavour.

7. The irony of him complaining about gambling given the industry he’s in.

9. Children need a supportive environment and a fair education. It doesn’t need to be a celebrity to tell you that.

11. Fundamentally you eventually have to ask why young men are suddenly listening to people like Tate who would’ve been branded freaks just 15 years ago. 

    Most young teens today have increasingly nihilistic views of the world and that’s the actual fundamental problem. Increasing numbers of young people just do not believe in society anymore.

12. Tell that to world famous step brother Johnny Sins..

    He’s been a doctor, engineer, karate master, school teacher, plumber, office worker, pizza delivery guy, preacher, soldier, police, astronaut and a firefighter during a lucrative career that’s also well documented!

    Gaming has not affected him one iota!

    Football fans are to blame for far more shit than gamers.

14. Why do people say boys have no role models? I can give several for pretty much any domain, sports, music whatever.

15. Well Sir Gareth, I would argue for many football, with its semi-organised violence, recently deminished but still evident racism and glorifying of playboy lifestyles, is worse for young lads than gaming.

    However, where are these role models going to come from? There are zero male teachers in schools. And what positive societal message are you going to spread to give young men support, to drown out the hatred?

    Every issue that faces young men in the UK is externalised and left for them to deal with on their own, and often blamed on them.

18. Correct; this is why they tragically idolise Andrew Tate and Elon Musk because most celebrities are just an act and nothing to look up to as a genuine inspiration, and father figures within families can only go so far and do so much.

    It’s either Tate or gaming and porn, take your pick. I don’t see anyone else stepping up for the position of a young male role model, especially nobody within politics pointing out the problem but doing nothing to provide solutions, like the whole partgate scandal. just a bunch of morally bankrupt politicians pointing the finger at anyone else but themselves; a tale as old as time.
