Why is the math standard in Ireland so low for kids? I’ve seen in Latvia it’s much more advanced. Even at this level. Surely this isn’t the best way to learn.

There is no way they didn’t know when developing the material. This is the teacher equivalent of the Adult Jokes in Peppa.
