Well if it’s “CLEAN” coal that must be ok then – good luck finding any. /s
US President Donald Trump said he would look to counter China’s economic advantage from coal-based electricity by authorizing his administration to ramp up production of power from the fossil fuel.
Oh, right. That sweet economic advantage from mildy cheaper power that China itself has and is continuing to move away from because of the collateral effects?
Because coal is somehow a better fuel to work with natural gas? It’s like he’s purposefully trying to go with the dirtiest route purely out of spite. Or maybe this is one of his 3D chess moves and I’m too dumb to understand…
this is absolutely incoherant and absurd on every level. no one except the coal industry and a handful of yes-man toadies want any more coal power plants in the usa. making a coal plant moderately less filthy wastes a huge portion of the energy and drives up costs.
Counter what, their spot on the air pollution rankings? Think the aircraft carriers already have that covered.
Unless he plans on subsidizing it, coal is not competitive with natural gas or renewables.
Assuming zero sum energy investment this would actually decrease the energy production of the US and make use less competitive with the rest of the world. Not to mention the environmental and health impacts.
If only there were better options. Oh. You cancelled all those programs!! Full speed ahead. Damn the environment and the world your grand trolls have to live in.
Meanwhile China is building 25 nuclear plants and huge amounts of solar and wind power. They’re moving ahead, we’re moving backwards.
Yeah we already know he’s vowed to contribute more to the problem and nothing to the solution.
