  4. I thought this might happen. No way there was no contingency for if they got pushed out of Kursk.

  5. When I saw Russias statement “we defeated Ukraine in Belgorod” and “there is a small fire at an oil depot”.

    I knew Ukraine must be making gains into Belgorod and there must be a huge fire at an oil depot.

  8. I believe Ukraine did this before. Keeping the Russian army split. In Kursk, it’s all worn out, they couldn’t have pushed any deeper anyway. So, time to move into another division.

    Perhaps the treachery of the US government has prompted this move early.

  10. If Ukraine considers another incursion into Russia, that must mean that the one into Kursk was a success.

    If they just go in all the time, capture all the borders guards and let Russia bleed itself to death on their defence in depth while destroying their own territory, that’s a much better strategy than waiting until Russia creeps up on Ukrainian territory

Russia will either have to keep weathering the political & material fallout from these temporary incursions, or shift significant troops into defensive positions within Russia and seriously invest in defence in depth across the entire border, not just the contact line within Ukraine.

    This will make it harder for them to concentrate offensive power, complicate logistics and generally further slow offensive operations. That creates breathing room for Ukraine, as well as potentially exploitable opportunities down the line.
