Iceland’s coach, Arnar Gunnlaugsson, spoke at a press conference in Pristina, where he expressed his appreciation for the Kosovo National Team.

However, he is aiming to start his adventure as Iceland coach with a win. Gunnlaugsson took charge of the team earlier this year and this will be his first match in charge.

“I took charge of the team in January and this is my first match. I am very proud and excited for the match against Kosovo,” said Gunnlaugsson.

“We expect a tough match against Kosovo, which has players who play for good teams in Europe. I couldn’t be more excited.”

“It is very important to perform well in away games. Playing away from home is always challenging. Kosovo has great support from the fans and plays in a big stadium.”

“Although the first match in Pristina will not decide everything, we need to ensure a positive result. A win would make me happy, a draw would be acceptable, but above all I want to see a good performance,” Gunnlaugsson further emphasized.

In the last edition of the Nations League, Iceland finished third in their group in League B, where they competed against Wales, Turkey and Montenegro.

Meanwhile, Kosovo finished League C as second in its group. Now, the team that emerges more successful from these two matches will play in League B next season. /Telegraph/
