Could dead leaves turn into green gold? • FRANCE 24 English

Imagine a world where we could make paper, cardboard and packaging without cutting down a single tree. Today, that dream is becoming reality. The start-up Releaf Paper turns fallen leaves into value. It was founded by a Ukrainian scientist, who moved to France before Russia’s full-scale invasion to set up a pilot factory in the suburbs of Paris. Production only started a few months ago, with promises of greener goods and a circular economy. FRANCE 24’s Aurore Cloé Dupuis, Alexandra Renard and Jonathan Walsh report.

  1. Last November while passing through Connecticut, I saw one area that had so many leaves a 12 man crew had to use multiple construction vehicles to move them

Next autumn, I will try to utilize leaves in my neighborhood

  2. What about the butterfly, moth, and insect eggs on the leaves? This could have a devastating impact on our ecosystem with less and less insects. This is quite worrying…

  3. In our department, everyone was given a compost bin. Green waste is no longer collected curbside. Oh, that's right, it's a city. Plants are ornamental, not food.

  4. Humans are worse than pestilence or famine. Our ego and greed are a curse to an Earth that will soon have had enough of us. We must plunder and seek dominion over absolutely everything. Will we ever learn in time?

  5. I thought they were going to tell us leaf litter was being used to add organic matter and nutrients to enrich depleted soils in farming regen /reforestation projects.

  6. Every year I run over my leaves with my mower until the size of corn flakes.

My grass is as green as can be.

Others rake up theirs then have Mr. Greengrass spray on unknown chemicals two or three times per year.

We all have wells around here. Just where do they think all that stuff is going?

    Drink up folks 😜
