11. The books are not banned. The books are not included in school curriculum or at school libraries. They are readily available at Amazon, local public libraries and any bookstore. There is a huge difference between banning or burning a book and not having it promoted or required in public school education programs.

25. When I grew up we did not have this wholesale fear of reading about human differences, only books like "Lady Chatterly's Lover." This new censorship is by fearful people who found a way to intimidate the general and specific populace into thinking that reading about people with different lifestyles and beliefs, automatically made you one. I can tell you, that since I have read "The Wizard of Oz" I have never thought I would become a scarecrow or a tin man person.

Other contemporary classic books like Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged or Georges Orwell's 1984 have been targeted for "encouraging right wing narratives" and even the newest edition of 1984 has been supposedly edited to be adapted to a "modern audience".

29. These books can be purchased at any book vendor. The censorship gives PARENTS control of the books PUBLIC schools have pushed upon children with a political agenda. Such books may be purchased by those parents wanting to teach their children about any subject they desire but they will no longer be forced on children. Censorship is getting worse all over the "free" world (having Europeans lecture us on this is rather ironic considering what they do in Great Britain and Germany about censorship) but there is such a thing as age-appropriate books and the right of parents to determine what their children are exposed to. Using the word "ban" might be misleading if we're talking about limiting books on the basis of age-appropriateness.

As a oubkic librarian it has become difficult to shield children from books that seek to sexualise and distort their thinking during their mpst impressionable years in order to interest and entrap them in eberrant constructed lifestyles later on. It is the sexual version of alcohol, gambling and drug industry using media to create demand.
