First time in history a Commerce secretary recommended buying a single stock.
If only there was some government agency that cracked down on corruption!
Oh, what’s that?! They fired those folks for cost savings? Well, I guess this is totally fine then. It’s what the MAGAs voted for. They love government corruption that they don’t benefit from now!
I wonder why the commerce secretary didn’t advise people to buy stock during the crash of 1929?
Because when stock is crashing and burning, no one can stop it?
Who are they going to fleece when all of their supporters are bankrupt?
Only a matter of time before those juicy savings Elon has discovered are used to buy Tesla stock.
This headline… I am not afraid to admit, just made me laugh out loud… in a starbucks… and I got some weird looks. Nobody clapped tho.
Ahh the refreshing smell of republican laissez-faire
Makes sense
Seems like a pure desperation move to me
Wow. Elon made Tesla so unpopular that even naked corruption can’t help.
Might want to wait til they find out what happened to the 1.4 Bn that seems to have evaporated from Tesla.
It’s frankly amusing watching those grifters twisting themselves into pretzels trying to balance climate change denial and EV hatred, while desperately trying to promote Musk’s stuff…
Cognitive dissonance and dishonesty are real, and strong.
Just another ethics violation by Trump’s administration.
Nutlick fElon.
Burn baby burn!!!
Not surprising. The whole thing screams “Tesla needs a bailout”, which doesn’t really make the company appear stable.
It reeks of desperation, and traders can smell it. I am sure there will be a few more ups and downs there, before it gets delisted. I would not be shocked if USA taxpayers sponsored a few mayor purchases for police or even the miliary, but that brand is ruined forever.
All US equities are going to fall after this.
Put yourself in the shoes of ANY big money investor or business owner. Why would you invest in America right now if the admin is out there acting like the Soviets? If I’m an EV startup or one of the legacy manufacturers, I’m pulling back American investment immediately after this comment because like hell I’m putting money in a country where Tesla is predetermined to be the winner. If I’m a large institutional investor, I’m directing fund managers to shift away from broad US equities to EU/Asian equities.
America used to be the place where you put your safe money while the ROW was where you hunted for value. You didn’t think about it, you just broadly invested in the American market knowing the general trend would be upward thanks to the relatively open capital markets and friendly business environment. Now that’s totally flipped and it’s going to be a disaster for Americans.
The bank where he was CEO upgraded the stock. I bet they bought a big block of shares at this price. Now NutLick’s out trying to pump it up.
Talk about insider trading
The last person I’d listen to is Howard lutnik, he’s wall streets perennial dunce. Just grinds smart people to dust to make money for himself
The irony is all these efforts by this nakedly corrupt administration to save Tesla are killing it faster. Indeed, the brand’s connection to this administration IS THE CAUSE of its decline. If they actually wanted to save it, they should distance the brand as far from Musk & Trump as possible. But neither of their Everestian egos will ever allow that.
Tesla simply needs to die now.
Straight into my veins.
I can appreciate buying a stock when it’s momentarily down with a correction in the future, but I’m not feeling that a rebound is the cards. Especially while Musk is connected to Tesla. He’s poison.
This feels like the last domino to fall for people that were on the fence about whether or not we were living in an oligarchy.
Commerce Secretary *who is heavily invested in Tesla*
This level of open corruption is insane this country is done for
I remember the outcry when Trump was hawking Goya products from the Oval Office in his first term. Now he is hosting Tesla sales events on the White House lawn and his Commerce Secretary is telling people to buy stock in a specific company that benefits his largest donor. I am so sick of this blatant corruption.
> “I mean, who wouldn’t invest in Elon Musk? You gotta be kidding me.”
*Raises hand*
Is there anybody in this regime’s cabinet not violating the constitution, the law, or an ethical standard?
Lucky for them they’re not Dems, otherwise the country would be really mad about emoluments clauses and corruption something something.
I just have to shake my head.
This *obvious* corruption to float a single man’s stock is going to crumble the faith and stability in the US. It’s going to undermine everything, including the stock they’re trying to float.
The entire US economy is going to tank because of a handful of people. (Yes, I know, everyday MAGA are who put this handful of people in power.)
Sold my Tesla stock about two weeks ago and put it into Costco stock. Feel pretty good about my decision
A Cabinet Secretary should NEVER be promoting a single company for stock purchases. POTUS should NEVER be promoting products from a company.
The MAGA crowd keeps acting like it’s all Dems tanking Tesla. Most Americans own no stocks. The value of the stock dropping is from Wall Street Investors, who are in the rich boy club with Trump, Lutnick, and Musk, not buying the stock. These investors tend to be Trump supporters for their greed.
What an embarrassment for the US.
Bottom of the barrel people running this admin and seemingly nothing being done about even more blatant corruption than was already in the system.
P/E around 100, sales tanking, quality issues, tragic styling, increasing competition, government selling off EVs and yanking out charging infrastructure, boycotts and sabotage, uniquely unpopular CEO… sure sounds like a strong buy.
The United States of America is openly and brazenly a lawless kleptocracy. No other nation on earth should do business with the US.
Nazi cars have no place in America. Most toxic stock ever!
And the Democrat Congressional delegation will do absolutely nothing useful/meaningful…

Then a major recall hits. Ouch. Lol.
