EU scientists demand bloc finalise UK’s membership of £80bn programme

  1. This is fairly petty, say what you want about the UK but we have some of the best research universities in the world. Blocking us out of joint research projects is shooting yourself in the foot.

  2. The UK is a non trustworthy partner in international treaties. They not necessarily will comply if it doesn’t suit them.

Why give them access to your IP and know how?

  3. Blocking the country that pretty much lead the way into some of the major technology innovations of the Later half of the 20th Century is not a good idea

  4. > More than 1,000 universities and 50 academies of science across Europe have called on the EU to “immediately” finalise the UK’s membership of its flagship £80bn research programme and end the 10-month delay to the ratification process.

    > In a letter to the European Commission president, Ursula von der Leyen, they say the lengthy delay is “endangering current and future plans for collaboration” and any further delay will “result in a major weakening of our collective research strength”.

European Commission: We’re sick of hearing from experts.

  5. The EU really is just an accepted organised crime block. Nobody actually likes these politicians and they work against what the people want. Imagine making your own scientists lives harder just to spite the UK. Fucking degenerates.

  6. I don’t understand how people can be so petty. The horizon programme is one of the best thing Europe has and the UK was a principal partner in a lot of researches and is still home for several most advanced research institutes. We, scientist just want to do research and help all the humanity. We don’t care if there is brexit or not. There are research groups in UK that are not anywhere in EU and if you want to cooperate or need their expertise, the Horizon programmes were exactly that, paneuropean research grants.

The talk about IP is even more stupid, Horizon grant results and research are open sourced and publicly accessible.

    Sincerely,
one of scientists working in signed academy of sciences.
