The legal position is that the crown office has decided to proceed with charges. To proceed they would need to meet a test of reasonable chance of conviction, which is based on a jury finding beyond a reasonable doubt.
When you are an agent of the state acting on the state’s behalf, you definitely would not be found guilty of anything!

To be honest, I would have preferred it if there had been a massive scandal involving drugs, strippers, or men/women of negotiable affection. Our first major Holyrood financial scandal and it’s centred around a campervan in Fife. We, as a nation, deserve a scandal which captures the imagination. “Campervangate” is so shit that I think I may be the only one who has ever used the phrase.

She is either as naive as Rosemarie Fritzl, completely incompetent to be First Minister of Scotland or responsible for it since she was leader of the country and party which did the looting. Are any of these things good?

A change I’d like to see made for the future is when there’s these high profile investigations going on is for the press to keep their fucking mouths shut. It’s a recurring issue in the UK especially that the press does everything but what amounts to actual slander in order to push public opinion one way or the other. Would be good if the oligarch rapists in charge of the media were given a boot up the arse.
Not that I’m blameless either because I contributed to it all by discussing it and giving my own ill educated opinion as well
The amount of scrutiny in this case has been absolutely intense. The Police have literally spent years combing through her finances to try and find evidence of wrongdoing.
I’m not sure that there are many that could have stood up to that.
Didn’t the police collect and present evidence to the procurator fiscal who then decided whether to prosecute or not.
Not a scrap of evidence seems a strong statement. I’d imagine not enough evidence for the procurator fiscal to be confident of getting a conviction wouldn’t have been a more honest way to put it.
Not I did nothing wrong.
Just I was tipped of with enough time to get all the incriminating documents carted out her house and destroyed.
I suppose marrying Peter might have been a mistake, but not wrong. I dont know why she did that!? and she definitely didn’t know anything about embezzlement.
But… but.. but… Murder tents !!!
Did we try playing bits n pieces and see what she did?
It all conveniently came about at a time when independence talk was ramping up again and leading into the general election. To go after her at the level they did with little to no evidence was insane and wreaks of overreaching Westminster vibes. I’m sure there are tons more of political figures down south who have way more evidence than what they did on her. They got what they wanted though.
To be fair she didn’t say she was innocent, just that there was no evidence. There isn’t any evidence that she’s not Janette Tough either
