Passed this 2nd World War memorial today, at the IJssel river in Gorssel, a small town in the east of the Netherlands in between Deventer and Zutphen. Canadian forces crossed the river in April '45 here, starting the liberation of the west of the Netherlands.
Felt extra special seeing it today, regarding the current worldly affairs. To all Canadians, from your Dutch friends: we support you in these weird days, and thanks one more time for helping us out back then!

Is this the new one, at the proper location? https://www.destentor.nl/voorst/dit-monument-staat-al-jaren-op-de-verkeerde-plek-nu-komt-daar-verandering-in~a2888deb/
Canadians also liberated my city in October of 44, and we are still grateful every year, hanging their flags in the week around the 27th of October. And in 2019 during the 75th year a lot of people bought the old flag, and last year during the 80th year, I saw that one return on a few houses.
