The Czech Republic has the third highest obesity rate in Europe

  1. I am not surprised at the 3rd place. The quantity of fatties and morbidly obese people in every segment of the Czech society is very notable regardless of age, gender, economic level, rural/urban. It got really bad in the last 10 years as Husak’s children are inching closer to 50 years of age.

  2. Was in Benesov the other day around lunchtime and out of a big gang of kids walking past in front of the high school about half of them were fat. Kids always queuing up outside the local kebab stand for lunch as well. I don’t remember many fat kids thirty years ago in school that the few that were would be fat shamed. Can’t talk myself these days but I blame commuting and office work, wasn’t fat before I was 30.

  3. Bad eating habits is one thing but another thing I really dislike about Czechia is the lack of interesting sport / other activities clubs for adults. Even outside basketball courts are hard to find in many parts of Prague.

Probably a direct consequence of sitting on your ass and drinking beer being favorite national leisure activity.
