>Heathrow said it was aware of problems facing customers today and blamed it on an ‘increase in passengers’
Who could have foreseen that?
I don’t understand how an increase in travellers can be any shock though. They will know the number of flights going out and when and number of passengers, same for arrivals. So how can you not plan?
More likely is they’ve not got enough staff, covid allowed them to get rid of any staff they didn’t have to furlough. Easy not to hire more and just expect the staff you have left take on the extra pressure, savings all around.
An increase in travellers as restrictions lift and the weather improves!? I’m shocked, I tell you. Shocked!
Entirely foreseeable. You’re an airport; you know exactly which planes are arriving / departing, you know when they’re arriving / departing, and you know exactly how many people are on-board.
The cause isn’t an ‘increase in passengers’. The cause is understaffing due to a combination of ineptitude and cost-saving measures designed to keep your institutional shareholders happy.
maybe its not COVID but Brexit, not that the article even hints at that…
Isn’t this because the home office wont provide enough border control people and therefore beyond the control of the airport?
This is exactly what you want to see when you’ve got a flight booked for next week with your 3 year old and 7 month old.
Fuck my life.
Does anyone know how bad it is in Gatwick? Gonna be flying from there very soon!
