1. This Substack article is both very interesting and disheartening. As an average European citizen (not a scientist) who is very aware of environmental collapse, I dare say that the scientific community has done something very wrong in its way of communicating the seriousness of the situation the planet finds itself in. The problem, in fact, is that either due to threats and coercion or a misguided sense of social responsibility (fear of causing too much alarm, etc.), the scientific community has fallen short (it has erred on the side of conservatism) in conveying the seriousness of the problem to the general public. Essential aspects of environmental collapse, such as the exceeding of planetary boundaries or climate tipping points, which should be mainstreamed, are concepts that only a few “weirdos” like me learn about on YouTube channels and little else. By the way, I recommend https://www.climateemergencyforum.org, a great educational channel on climate change that, unfortunately, only has 15,000 subscribers.
