As a Canadian I seriously think we need at least 6 of these nuclear submarines, at least 2 for each of the oceans we border, along with a new fleet of modern non-nuclear submarines for general partols. Additionally we need a fully revamped fighter jet fleet that can defend both our arctic and our southern border from acts of intrusion, and we need all new fighter jets to be European NATO compatible models, with the eventual goal of revitializing our domestic fighter jet industry that was world renouned before it was dismantled and merged with the US in the 1960's. Furthermore, we seriously need to consider developing our own nuclear defense umbrella, with maybe having the UK and France extend their existing Nuclear deterence over Canada while we develop our own system. We absolutely cannot rely on the US as an ally anymore, we need to treat them like the hostile neighbour Trump has made them into, and that also means not just replacing the US with France or the UK, we need to invest in our own domestic military production while using European defense systems as a stop gap until we can stand on our own.
