GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) – – Consumers Energy will be moving powerlines as part of construction in part with Traverse City’s M-72/M-22 rebuilding project.
The work will temporarily interrupt electricity to 2,176 homes and businesses from 11 p.m. Saturday, March 29, until as late as 6 a.m. the next morning.
“We appreciate our customers’ patience as we work with local officials to support this major road and roundabout construction project,” said Chris Laird, Consumers Energy’s vice president of electric distribution. “We know that losing power is an inconvenience, and we will work as quickly and safely as we can to minimize the impact of this interruption.”
Consumers Energy says the approximate area of the overnight outage is south of E. Bingham Road, east of Gray Road, north of Harris Road, and west of Division Street.
They say postcards have been mailed to customers who should be affected.
Consumers Energy says they schedule work on the electricity like this overnight, when many people are asleep, to help to not disrupt businesses or other activities as much as the daytime.
If work needs to be rescheduled, the backup date is Sunday, March 30, from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Customers should call Consumers Energy at 800-477-5050 if they have questions or concerns.
