Cross-border commuters travelling from Belgium to Luxembourg are set for further travel disruption in coming weeks with yet more strike action planned.
A seven-day strike will begin on Sunday and is due to last until 22:00 on 31 March, while separate walkouts have also been announced for four days next month – on 8,15, 22 and 29 April.
The upcoming action follows a series of strikes since the beginning of the year in a row over pension reforms and other measures affecting the Belgian rail sector. Several unions have announced plans for rotating strikes several times per month until July.
Luxembourg’s rail operator, CFL, has advised customers to check travel updates ahead of their journey.
“According to the information communicated by SNCB, the offer adapted to the impact of the strike will be published at least 24 hours in advance in the SNCB planner. In view of the risk of trains between Luxembourg and Belgium being cancelled, we advise our customers to find out more on the website or via the CFL mobile application before starting their journey,” the CFL said.
