  1. Why did you stop filming right then. It was getting good

  2. “Despite having clear video evidence of the suspect’s full uncovered face, The Met remain baffled by this criminal mastermind”

  3. tbf the average experience here is lots of people just walking around pretending NOTHING happened or is happening! u can’t change the experience without changing this mindset

  4. If your video – well done for actually questioning the guy. Most people wouldn’t even stop. I hope that thief got some grief from the guy at the end.

  5. I can’t help but think running towards them, screaming “GET OFF MY BIKE!” would actually be more effective than filming.

  6. Once saw a cycle thief get hit in the head by the owner of a bike, then some lads nearby joined in, but didn’t beat him up.

They stripped him naked, took his clothes and told him to fuck off. Street justice.

  7. Bike theft may as well be legal in London, it’s just not a priority for the Met. Cycling in London means taking two D locks, a chain (for the wheels) and locking the rear circle lock over the back wheel with the key.

I’d be interested to know if it’s this bad in other cities.

  8. Man tried to break a bike lock with his bare hands and a fucking lighter looool

  9. The police at best will say “he didn’t actually steal the bike, so there’s nothing we can do” (although even if he did steal it, they’d still do nothing). What they’ll actually do is nothing.

  10. I would have shoved that stolen seat post up his ass ala

  11. Dude thinks the ice cream van is the police, realises it isn’t and then goes back to try again.

Wow. Glad the owner came along. I hope this video is passed to the police. Unbelievable

  12. Not so crazy when people’s social responsibility is to pull out their phone and film. I suppose, it’s the UK and you may not be able to stop crime without committing one yourself.

  13. Who can complain when we asked for this. You can’t say anything at all. All you can do is watch. Shame.

  14. Broad daylight, face on complete show, doesn’t care. Definitely a nitty

  15. We need to stop this thinking of “someone’s bike isn’t worth your life” and realise that the principle is worth far more to our community. Do something otherwise your children will grow up around lawlessness.

  16. I wish someone would smack him in the head with that seat!

  17. Well done for saying something. The only time I’ve ever caught a bike theft it was two guys, I (mid 20s at the time F) was alone in the dark in Hackney and I didn’t feel safe enough to challenge them. I tried to report it to the police later but their form wasn’t capable to register exactly where the theft occurred so I gave up, I know that they don’t have the time to find every (any!) bikes anyway

  18. How do you so casually film this so close and not do anything?

  19. If he tried to break the chain with his bare hands and a lighter, I would have absolutely loved to see his plan for the D lock 😂

  20. Jesus fuck am I glad I never have to leave my bike outside like that. Park it in the train station and park it in my flat. If I came across someone trying to steal my bike I don’t even know that I’d try to stop them. I’m not in the business of getting stabbed by some unstable tweaker like this guy.

  21. This happens all the time yet on my street there has been a bike locked to a flimsy tree branch for two weeks and it’s not been nicked
