  1. Wow. Temper tantrum from the social security chief. So….I have some questions. How are you going to handle the massive amounts of company closures from Nursing Homes to Perkins? Then how are you going to handle the massive amounts of homeless people and dead people piling up in the ditches? How will you handle the increase in crime? If you don’t have an answer, you better figure it out fast because it won’t take long after social security is eliminated.

  4. I calculated today how many months we could survive if our dual retired SS benefits were withdrawn.

    Shutting down Social Security would cause a permanent economic depression. Everyone on SS would have to list their homes for sale at the same time, cratering the housing market. The economic damage would be catastrophic.

    How many of those old folks have kids, who mutually own lots of guns? How many MAGAs would be willing to shoot their own politicians?

  10. I really hope some of the pro-Trump, pro-Libertarian, personal responsibility members of this sub chime in on this. I’ve noticed a big shift in sentiment around here from before the US election to now.

    I get the general viewpoint of “taxes are theft” and “services should be provided by corporations not the government”. I disagree *completely*, but I acknowledge that viewpoint exists.

    And here we are. The government already took the money for social security. It’s gone. And this administration wants to keep it.

    Any commenters want to expound on why this is actually a good thing?
