Looks to be a coordinated response with other EU member states, Belgium expelling 21 diplomats and the Netherlands 17: https://twitter.com/nexta_tv/status/1508805359833600009?s=20&t=D779ldTIBTQPS0mz4Wp0ag
That’s us off the Russian christmas card list.
Thanks be to fuck.
I wonder is this linked to the alleged leak of Russian spies operating in Europe
About time.
There are numerous people on this sub who have been adamant that the Russians have zero interest in Ireland whatsoever. I can’t tell if it’s naivety or just refusal to believe that it might be true.
Bye Felicia!
Imagine getting expelled from a country and then missing your flight because the security line at dublin airport was too long
A good time to post this again. The crazy plans the government blocked for the Russian embassy.

Take Agent Daly and Agent Wallace with you
According to the Irish Times they’ve been ‘asked to leave’ no mention of expulsion…
May that’s just diplomatic speech for ‘expelled’ but no mention of expulsion…
A welcome move, now let’s see if they’ll do the same for Saudi Arabia and Israel.
Bout fucking time, what about the other 11
So, Wallace and Daly… Who are the other two?
Get out ye fucking murdering raping cunts.
Israel’s is though?
Not a great bunch of lads.
Normal for the KGB
Embassy workers are spies by default, so no surprises.
Spies
That’s some of them at least. The Russian embassy in Ireland has been handy not just for spying on multiple international companies, but is nicely located for signals traffic from the UK, towards the US…and because we have no dedicated intelligence agency, Ireland is a perfect transit point. I heard a report that no other Russian embassy in Europe gets so many Russian diplomats from other parts of the world just dropping by on a regular basis.
Not just the Russians of course. We are a soft touch for the Israelis, Americans, Chinese, whthaveyou. Because they only have to watch out for each other’s agents, nobody here is really paying attention.
Gardai have the wrong mindset – they focus on the breaking of laws. Army intelligence has limited resources also, other things on their plate like knowing what is happening where Irish troops are deployed abroad.
There is a reason most countries have at least two intelligence services; one domestic (looking for the other guys spies and threats at home) and one foreign (sticking your nose in to see whats of interest/threat)… Each keeps an eye on the other’s blind spot. We have none.
Unless you count MI5, the British domestic intelligence service, which has responsibility for Ireland. Not MI6. Ouch.

Anyway that’s what a bloke down the pub who smelt of cheap whiskey told me and I believe him.
Irish embassy diplomats in Russia getting their suitcases down from the top shelf of the closet as we speak.
Reminds me of the soviet spy network that was uncovered in Stillorgan shopping centre… first time reading about it a couple months back.

Those four guys utterly refused to play [online poker](https://www.reddit.com/r/RussiaSanctions/comments/td46s2/flutter_entertainment_plc_formerly_paddy_power/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3).
I always thought persona non grata sounded delicious.
Expelling diplomats is the equivalent of announcing drug seizures. The news announcement and the event has absolutely no impact on the underlying activity of neither spying nor drug trading.
Why does Russia need so many diplomats here, we have six in Moscow. If the Russians threaten to retaliate then tell rumen to only hand the same number we have.
Spies, eh?
