Estonia is serving up espresso macchiato this year! The globally renowned star Tommy Cash will represent Estonia on the big Eurovision 2025 stage in Basel next May, sipping his “Espresso Macchiato.” As a fan favorite from the start, Eurovision fans were thrilled by his victory.

Eesti Laul 2025 delivered a mind-blowing televote result. In the first round, a jury helped select three artists for the Superfinal: Tommy Cash led with 16 points.  An-Merlen followed closely with 15 points, while Andrei Zevakin ft. Katrina secured the final spot with 13 points.

In the Superfinal, which was based solely on the public vote, Tommy dominated with an impressive 83% of the votes!

Estonia has only won Eurovision once—back in 2001 with Tanel Padar, Dave Benton & 2XL. Could Tommy Cash bring them their second victory?

1. He is from Tallinn 

Tomas Tammemets was born on November 18, 1991, in Tallinn, Estonia, in the subdistrict of Kolpi. His ancestry is diverse, as he is of mixed Ukrainian, Kazakhstani, Russian, and Estonian descent.

2. He was a rebel from childhood

Tommy’s childhood was intense. He was a passionate fan of graffiti art, which led to his arrest on different ocasions. He was also expelled from school and ultimately never completed secondary education. Instead of returning to his studies, Tommy chose to pursue painting and dancing. He has mastered several styles, including popping, krumping, and breakdancing.

3. He uses surrealism in his music videos  

When it comes to his music videos, Tommy plays a significant role in their creation. He is known for producing provocative and shocking visuals, but many of his videos also incorporate surrealism and artistic elements.

4. His career started on SoundCloud

Who says an audio streaming platform can’t make you famous? Back in 2012, Tommy launched his career by uploading songs to SoundCloud. While it might seem like a small step from the outside, within just a year, his song “Oldkool” was featured in ads for the Sport LX fashion collection by Liisa Orgna and the ERKI Fashion Show. After sharing his first tracks on SoundCloud, he began performing and attending festivals.

5. He had a performance for the president

Who says presidents don’t enjoy rap music? In 2016, Tommy was specially invited by the Estonian president at the time, Toomas Hendrik Ilves, to perform at Kadriorg Palace during the president’s meeting with American businessman Ben Horowitz.

6. Tommy has art exhibitions

Surprisingly, Tommy also works across various artistic fields, from photo installations and painting to sculpting. He has held both solo exhibitions and collaborative projects, including one with artist Rick Owens. His work has been showcased in prestigious museums such as KUMU in Tallinn and Meudon in Paris, France. Cash often incorporates pop culture icons, symbols, and his own body image into his art.

7. Rap and rock music icons shaped his style 

Numerous artists have influenced Tommy’s style, but among his favorites and role models are Nas, Eminem, Missy Elliott, and Marilyn Manson.

8. He’s a designer and also a model 

Tommy has also worked as a designer, collaborating with multiple brands such as Rick Owens, Maison Margiela, and Adidas. In his designs, he maintains his signature surrealistic style. For example, his collaboration with Adidas featured extra-long sneakers, pushing the boundaries of conventional footwear. He even partnered with IKEA, creating surreal home items, including the LOAFA, a sofa inspired by bread.

As a model, Tommy has walked in various runway shows, including Rick Owens Menswear Spring 2019 at Paris Fashion Week, Marine Serre’s Fall/Winter 2022/23 show, and Jordanluca’s Spring/Summer 2024 show in Milan, Italy.

9. He is a good friend of Käärijä and Joost Klein

Tommy is good friends with two former Eurovision participants. He shares a strong bond with Joost Klein, who was selected to represent The Netherlands last year. The two have been seen together frequently, attending various events and sharing numerous photos, highlighting their close friendship.

Käärijä, who represented Finland in 2023, is another close friend of Tommy. He was even spotted in the audience at Eesti Laul, wearing a T-shirt that said “Vote for Tommy,” and later joined him in the green room. Their friendship extends beyond public appearances, as they have also shared the stage at Käärijä’s concert and collaborated on a song together called “It’s Crazy, It’s Party.”

10. He collaborated with Charli XCX

Charli XCX is currently a musical phenomenon, and she has collaborated with Tommy multiple times. In 2017, he made a cameo appearance in her music video for “Boys” and was also featured on her mixtape Pop 2 on the tracks “Delicious” and “Out of My Head.” The following year, Charli XCX appeared on Tommy’s album ¥€$ on the track “Cool 3D World,” and during his tour, she even performed with him in Tallinn. Their collaborations continued in 2019 when Tommy was featured on Charli’s track “Click.”
