  1. Finsbury Park, come for the nature, stay for the unexpected biology lessons.

  2. They don’t have to go participate, its not mandatory to go to all activities in the park

  3. Pulling the bush out by it’s roots. That’s some rough sex

  4. I blame the parents. You’d never see parks doing this in my day.

  5. Can’t comment on this specifically but I forgot how much of a fucking warzone Finsbury Park is on a Friday night. In one quick supermarket trip, I saw a woman blatantly shoplift and get caught by staff, a guy smashing bottles, several fights, inexplicable screaming, half the cars seemed intent on killing me on my bike, then you get to the bit at the bottom of Blackstock Road where there the vibe is just horrible — dozens of blokes just sort of loitering and staring at people as they go past, occasionally shouting.

It’s a shame because bar the main roads, and for the majority of the week, it’s a great area. It’s like someone flips a switch at sunset on Friday.

  6. It’s always been like that. I grew up in the area during the 80s and 90s, it doesn’t change, no matter how many posh people move into the area

  7. That double murderer who killed the young barmaid in the park around Christmas 2017 used to cruise around it for sex, apparently.

I’d be much more concerned about being stripped of all my possessions and beaten up, I’ve heard that happening to multiple people who made the mistake of wandering in after dark

  8. I don’t care how much sex or drugs is on offer, there’s no way I’m stepping foot in Finsbury park after dark

  9. >Sex in a public place is not in itself illegal

    TIL

  10. some nasty vibes in finsbury park when it hits nightfall.

  11. …what time is this happening and where exactly. Never heard of this. Can you park round there or is FPK running a night tube service.

    Asking for a friend

  12. After that poor woman was murdered there a couple of years ago there is no way I’d step in Finsbury Park after dark

  13. Why don’t they just… put lights up in the park? Blows my mind. How stupid can they be? I have repeatedly contacted the council and park association about putting lights in the park. With the sunset in the winter the park is so dark it isn’t really even useable for most of the day!

  14. When I worked in haringey as an outreach worker I regularly had to do night time street count in FP. I had strict instructions that it would only ever be with a team of police, but even then, the place was terrifying. The gangs, the sex in the bushes and the overall feeling of menace was something never to be forgotten.

  15. I don’t understand why people ( especially the gays) want to have sex at night in these parks. The danger is astronomical now with the drug dealers there/ rise in Islamic communities in a lot of these areas. Surely the risk is no longer “ ooh we may get caught” and “ ooh we may get killed”?

  16. This is literally the only reason I have ever been there

Incidentally Finsbury Park backwards is Krapy Rub Snif

  17. I stopped taking my son to the playgrounds there after finding a used condom under a climbing frame. As soon as you walk away from the playgrounds the vibe changes and it feels dodgy.

  18. Lived in FPK for 30 something years. People going in the park after dark has always baffled me. Yeah the area is far safer than it was 30 years ago but not the park. Give your head a wobble.

Also the people saying lights in the park is the answer are so wrong. That just encourages people into the park. The thing that makes the park safe in the day is thousands of park users. The night is always going to be dangerous.

  19. If you close the park the drug dealers will just move to the surrounding streets…and people will be hit in the crossfire

  20. If I don’t want to have sex and take drugs in the park at night then nobody should be allowed to.

  21. There’s no point of keeping a public park open at night, really. They closed Primrose Hill at night too and I don’t think anyone is kicking a fuss about it.

It’s just common sense, right? 🤷🏻‍♀️

  22. I now live in Feltham, and Hounslow was very obviously segregated into different parts. Chiswick is posh, the centre of Hounslow was predominantly immigrants and really rough, Feltham was predominantly English, and even rougher. Nowadays, Feltham is more mixed, but, like a lot of areas, it’s becoming more run down in parts. Of course the English population is blaming immigrants.
