  1. Tourists from Canada are also angry about threats to their sovereignty. The incidents where people are being detained by ICE are just an added reason to vacation elsewhere

  2. Canadian traveler, Jasmine Mooney: 12 days in detention

Rebecca Burke, a Welsh comic artist: detained for 19 days

ICE held two German tourists in a detention center for about six weeks…

  3. When you enter US and you feel like not welcome…

  4. Trump just playing 4D chess. If there are less people traveling, there are fewer planes in the air. Fewer planes in the air just mean ATC have less to manage.

Seriously though, this is so fucked.

  5. I wouldn’t be surprised if the US banned pregnant women from leaving the country.

In some states traveling for healthcare is already a felony.

  6. Florida’s gonna take a huge hit. If DeSantis is smart, he would take the bulwark approach.

  7. Trump is just a giant turd in the national punchbowl in so many ways.

I don’t blame visitors for wanting to stay away while this madman is in charge here.

  8. It wasn’t exactly safe prior to Trump, with the mass shootings, Republicans proudly claiming to be domestic terrorists, etc.

  9. I wouldn’t even travel out of the US and try to return. Who knows what data these traitors have now and who they will target at customs.

“Show me your papers!” is approaching fast

  10. Totally avoidable, but around 23% of the country were set on electing a piece of shit

  11. I am an American and I urge visitors to stay away. It’s too volatile.

  12. Gee, I wonder why ppl wouldn’t want to visit the land of jail, racism, disappearences, police state and outsourced concentration camps!!

  13. It’s a special kind of American-made stupid supporting this orange bag of shit. 💩

  14. Don’t worry everyone ! They’re making America great again!!

  15. I am surprised that anyone is surprised by this. Even my Canadian relatives who spend 3 months a year in Texas and have done for 20 years, are not planning to go back this year. Some of my American friends here in Europe have changed plans to avoid going back to the US in the near future. America is perceived as toxic by many people in Europe and no longer even an ally

  16. I’ll have to preface this by saying obviously things have gotten way worse, but *’recent incidents that suggest the U.S. is not a safe place to be’* is a weird way to phrase it, since the US never was considered that safe.

It wasn’t exactly rival to Russia, no, but when I traveled the world I did have to watch out where in the US I went, exactly. Plenty of places you always needed to avoid.

Violence is very high in the US, and always has been. Especially lethal violence. Police brutality is absolutely not something of the past 5 years either. Awareness just became more widespread.

When I was traveling in the US, a friend of mine was detained by an officer because my friend called him an asshole. Which he called him that because he swatted a glass from a woman’s hand when she asked him to identify himself.

My friend was consequently put in jail overnight. There were empty jail cells, but he was put with another detainee known to be raping men. The officer made sure he knew he wasn’t going to check on them this night.

Nothing happened further, my friend was quite the charismatic fun guy and they just had a laugh in there, but this was 15 years ago and is exemplary of the US.

  17. You guys have gone insane. Please, get your shit together.

    Cheers,
    Canada

  18. Good, there are better places to see than this shithole.

  19. The atmosphere in US airports has always been toxic to travellers. I can remember in the 90s a friend being put in handcuffs, under armed guard, in transit because he had once applied for a US visa then withdrawn it after splitting up with his American girlfriend. In a three-hour transit! The only other place I’ve seen anything similar is war-torn parts of Africa but at least you can have a good laugh with your guards there: there is humanity.

This behaviour has not come out of nowhere; it’s been building for decades.

  20. There are lots of nice places in the world what are you going to find here that you can’t find somewhere else?

  21. I predict that soon most industrialized countries will have travel advisories to USA

At least, Japan, Canada, Australia and big Western Europe, countriez

    Very bad

  22. The international community needs to quarantine the US. There is a plague of madness, ignorance and stupidity in this country that might be contagious, or otherwise dangerous to anyone who travels here.

  23. No fucking in way in he’ll I’d come here from another country right now.

Don’t like something I said about the President on my social media?

Just say my tattoos are gang related and disappear me to an El Salvadorian prison with 0 due process!

  24. I cancelled a business trip that was doing to start this Sunday. About $20k USD in total expenses. I can’t afford to be detained, even if the risk is small.

Our business travel budget to the US this year is now 0$.

  25. America no longer has due process, even for it’s residents. Foreign travelers should expect that they can be detained for days or weeks without cause and without being brought before a judge.

  26. As a european you couldn’t pay me to travel to the US at the moment.

  27. Besides the security issues, ICE are just so fucking rude when you arrive.

  28. This makes me really a sad, as I have a friend in Tasmania. It’s going to be easier for her to come see me in the U.S. before I can go see her in Australia. But it’s not safe anymore with the orange toddler in charge.

I hate his voters and I don’t think I’ll ever forgive them.

  29. He’s going to end up crippling the US tourism industry. Finland, Fenmark, Germany, Canada, and the United Kingdom have all issued travel advisories for the United States. He is not only going after illegal immigrants. He is targeting people with valid visas. Permanent Residents are being harassed at airports and pressured to give up their green cards and threatened with arrest and detention if they don’t do so. People with valid green cards are being detained without charges, tortured, and pressured to leave voluntarily, even though they have every legal right to be here. My wife is a permanent resident from the Philippines. She wants to visit her home in a couple of years. And I greatly fear what will happen to her when she returns to the United States. I am a conservative who opposes illegal immigration. But, the government must obey the law, and it is clear that they are out of control.

  30. Imagine showing up with the “wrong” tattoo, walking by a protest, etc. then being shipped off to some South American prison camp…all because you wanted to take your family to Disney World.

Yeah, I’d be freaked out too, and I was fucking born here!

  31. Its time for blue states to secede and leave this sinking ship.
