  1. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy that Germany is ready to act a security guarantor for Ukraine, said a German government spokesperson in Berlin.

Scholz signalled a “general willingness” about the role in a phone call with Zelenskiy, spokesperson Steffen Hebestreit told a regular news conference on Wednesday.

Hebestreit said he did not want to speculate about whether the security guarantor role would also include a military component.

  2. whahahah. the way I see it, ukraine should offer protection for germany. our bundeswehr certainly is not up to the task

  3. Given the current state of propaganda in Russia, the Russian populace is probably not short of being convinced of this being Nazi Germany offering security guarantees to Nazi Ukraine

  4. Security guarantors don’t work.

Greece and Turkey were the security garantor for Cyprus in 1960 treaty. In 1974 Greece organised a coup in Cyprus and Turkey invaded Cyprus.

Russia was Ukraine security garantor in exchange for their nukes.

  5. 5000 helmets are guaranteed.

Germany is too undecided on foreign policy. To be a good guarantor they need to become more consistent.

  6. It’s never going to work. Germany or Turkey wouldn’t go to war with Russia over Ukraine. The US wouldn’t go to war with Russia because after 10 minutes Putin would be forced to use nukes. The only way for Ukraine to be safe is through joining NATO. There’s literally no other way
