Those who say it is the ugliest city in Europe have probably not traveled much. They haven’t looked at the Soviet industrial cities of Eastern Europe or the poor areas of Greece, the Balkans, and Spain.
And as for the world, there are far uglier cities in Asia and the Middle East. And having been to Douala in Cameroon, I can say that compared to it, Charleroi is like a fairy-tale town.
