  2. We are against an inherent evil that is way too desperate. Things will turn ugly.

This is probably the calm before the storm.

  3. It’s almost a state of emergency or martial law.

  4. As of this moment, Erdogan declared a de facto martial law in Istanbul.

This is unacceptable. I always knew this would happen eventually. Yet that man has seized every single media platform right along with the Republic institutions.

Islamists can never be trusted. Europe made a mistake in pushing the Turkish Armed Forces out along with the government. Although I agree with the notion, they were the last safeguard of a democratic, secular Turkey.

  5. europe’s favorite refugee holder dictator proudly represents

  6. Sure, push for more authoritian decrees, surely this will make people less resistant! /s

  7. Protest everywhere else, organize walks fron towns to towns. It had crazy effect on Vučić’s support here, down to 35% from 55% in just 4 months…

  8. Ah yes ban a protest about an evil autocrat dictator. Yup, that is sure going to stop people protesting said no one ever.

  9. How long is that gonna work though, I don’t think Erdogan will survive the year if he keeps going like this.

  10. Yea they can go on and say all the bullshit they want. It won’t stop the protests. It will only prove their dictatorial actions.

  11. The dictator must go. He deserves the rest of his life in jail.

  12. This country is member of NATO and has good relationships with Europe. Disgusting. If Europe was not weak like today, Erdogan wouldn’t even try this. He knows EU needs him against Russia so manipulating it. Turkeys economy strongly depends on Europe but opposite is not true. If Europe suspended the trade then Erdoğan regime would collapse at the same week.

    Damn it.

  13. Entry and Exit to Istanbul is also prohibited about 30 mins ago.

  14. Why is EU so silent about this? It’s like the same thing they’ve done with Putin. Completely blind to the happenings while he grew with more and more power. European ideals shouldnt be sucking off a dictator until he attacks your union.

  15. Are we in some kind of European spring or something? We’ve had protests in Georgia, Hungary, Slovakia, now turkey.

  16. Although constitutionally they cannot impose a travel ban, entry to and exit from Istanbul are currently “restricted”, and while they are forbidden from banning peaceful protests, they are taking every possible measure to suppress and undermine them. Theoretically, the very person we elected as president to protect the constitution appears giving zero fucks, leaving us in this chaotic situation.

  17. He is scared shitless. It’s been only 4 days and mass protests take place in almost every province of Turkey

  18. This is it Turks. You either take him down or end up like in Belarus or Georgia. You can’t go for the top dog and miss.

  19. There are enough people in Istanbul anyways lol. They can’t even enforce their own laws. Protest ban my ass 1 million people are outside in Istanbul today.

  20. I know this sucks but hows the tourism nowadays? Avoid or chill during day

  21. Its just a matter of time before Erdogan declares “state of emergency” and have the military intervene.

  22. I’m literally due to land in Istanbul for what I thought was a week of exploring. I’m from the US, should I cancel my trip?? My Airbnb is in Beyoğlu and then Cihangir for a couple of nights.

Thinking about scrapping the whole leg of the trip. Anyone on the ground can give me some advice!?

  23. Ironic just 1 hour ago I watched a tourism commercial to come to Türkiye

  24. We need help from EU and UN.
    Police’s are killing peoples
