  40. Cults of personality don’t last past the death of their founder. Vance will try to lead, but there are too many others who think they have a better chance — and, besides, the MAGAs really only believed Trump’s nonsense because it came from Trump. If it came from Vance or DeSantis or Johnson or Graham or anyone else, their atrophied thinking skills would revive. There’d still be a billion conspiracy theories and all kinds of nuts on the right, but they’d all move in different directions and they’d be fighting each other to their deaths within a few weeks.
