  1. RTÜK (Radio and Television Supreme Council) President Ebubekir Şahin issued a warning regarding broadcasters, stating:

    “Channels that invite people to take to the streets, act as spokespeople for illegal organizations, violate individual rights through biased reporting, insult or threaten state officials, judicial authorities conducting investigations, law enforcement officers, and security forces will face serious sanctions, including long-term broadcasting suspensions and, ultimately, license revocations.”

    Following Şahin’s statement, several television channels covering the police intervention in Saraçhane and events at Çağlayan Courthouse halted their live broadcasts.

  2. This will only infuriate the masses even more. There were already over a million people outside today which means that every phone out on the streets is a potential radio and tv channel of its own.

  11. Lmao. Why he would want do this? He could win elections without this with good campaign and if he played his cards well, or maybe not, but that’s how democracy works. I guess he is terrible advised. This is just petrol for the opposition. Now his chances of winning a clean election drastically decreased… And a “failure military uprising” propaganda won’t help him either since you can’t reuse a bullet.
