I hate this government so much. Worst bunch of self-gratifying dimwits I’ve seen in my lifetime.
Sorry but no we should not have been blackmailed into paying Iran to release her full stop not six years ago not now. The problem was Iran blacking mailing the Uk for release and we had to give in.
Good on her for not toeing the line and thanking the government. Doubly good on her for making it clear in that her husband had been ‘ordered’ to ask her to.
Apparently the Iranians sent a couple of envoys to negotiate the debt back in 2012(?) and they got banged up in a detention centre and deported. Which I guess was what encouraged hostage taking in the first place.
Honestly quite Orwellian so many people don’t even seem able to connect Boris’ comments giving ammunition to the Iranian prosecution against her to all the efforts to save his face that have gone on since. You have to have some real DoubleThink going on in your head to not understand this problem yet so many people discussing it don’t quite seem to clock how bad it was.
I think she is an amazingly nice and clearly well spoken lady. As she speaks now everyone supports her.
Probably best to leave the politics out of this.
I’d love for her to say that to Johnson’s face on live TV. He would try and waffle his way out of it but his non-answer and body language would betray him as he tries in vain to apologise.
Should have left her moaning fuck ask the question to Iran FFS
Glad Harry Potters wife is back home safe with her kids.
They poor lady is a victim of politics and our government being crooks..
Money we took in the 70’s for arm’s and then didn’t want to deliver and keep the money..
Shameful behaviour.
Personally I would have just not gone to a country whose government I’d criticised who are famous for imprisoning journalists who criticise them. But that’s just me.
Well there was no Russian war and need for oil which meant they had to do a deal with Iran (probably agreed to pay them the 450 million they are owed as well)
I am glad she was freed.
Why go to these places though? It’s asking for trouble.
Can smell the compensation claim coming already.
Has she been badly treated by the Government?
Well said her, yes Nazanin should of been freed six years ago, but we all know who was in post at the time of her imprisonment, at the foreign office, the current PM!
Cant believe they took an injunction to stop media from printing the debt story
Maybe I’m heartless but this reeks of privilege to me. There’s far too much of an attitude amongst British people that we can go wherever we want whenever we want to, and if we get into trouble, our government should be the knights in shining armour coming to rescue us. People from other less influential countries do not have this cavalier attitude as they know their governments won’t come to bail them out. At the end of the day, she chose to travel to a country which has terrible relations with the U.K. and has a government with a notorious reputation. My wife is currently in a similar boat as her relatives are in Russia. She could theoretically get there travelling through Dubai or Istanbul but she wouldn’t dream of it, as it’s too risky. It’s tough for her as her nan is in ill health and she hasn’t been able to see her or anyone else in her family for several years due to covid and now the war but she’s accepted it and knows it’s not worth the risk.
I get it, this is a great stick to beat the tories with, and the whole issue with the debt from forty years ago is a joke but that doesn’t mean people should expect the British government to bail themselves out any time they get into difficulty in tyrannical countries overseas. Yes, I’d expect our government to try their best but ultimately it’s not their fault she decided to travel to a very dangerous country.
Isn’t she dual citizen? It’s always hard if one is a dual national and gets in trouble in the other country. There is legally fewer options for the UK.
Never have dual citizenship of a country that is at odds with your present homeland.
She says she’s not a spy, but the Gov paid 400 mil to get her back

That is true, but it was a shame politicians in the UK managed to increase her time in jail. It was depressing to see people telling her to ‘shut up’ and ‘stay in your place’ as she began to remember the horror of the six years. I know we’re not too keen on women – especially of colour who will tell it like it is, or run rings around the ‘establishment’.
This has been a terrible time for her and her family, but the guilty party is the Iranian government not the British government.
Her comments are disingenuous and criticism is wrongly placed. She should have crticised the Iranin regime for unlawfully imprisoning her in the first place.
Secondly, she is fortunate to be getting out at all. The US natioanl Robert Levinson arrested in 2007 was never seen again.
Yes, it did take a long time and Boris Johnson’s comments may or may not have helped but UK Governments did not imprison her.
