Prince Harry revealed the “selfish” reason he was overjoyed by Princess Eugenie marrying Jack Brooksbank.

Eugenie, celebrating her 35th birthday, tied the knot with Jack back in 2018. At the time Harry and wife Meghan Markle were firmly in the royal fold.

Writing in his controversial memoir ‘Spare’, he revealed how he heard Eugenie was going to get married soon after he discovered Meghan, now 43, was pregnant with their first child.

“Euge was getting married, to Jack, and we were deliriously happy for her and for ourselves, selfishly, since Jack was one of our favourite people,” he said.

“Meg and I were supposed to head off on our first official foreign tour as a married couple, but we delayed the departure several days, so we could be at the wedding.”

Harry also explained in the book how the “various gatherings” around the wedding gave him and Meghan a chance to share the “good news” of her pregnancy with the family.

The reminder of Harry and Meghan’s generous decision to delay their royal trip in 2018 comes as questions grow over Harry’s continued future in his new home, the USA. His visa documents were released earlier this week.

The Duke of Sussex’s visa documents were released following an FOI request by conservative US thinktank Heritage Foundation which argued Harry had concealed his historic illegal drug use which he revealed in Spare.

Alongside the heavily redacted documents was a statement which explained why so little information was available and explained that there was “the potential of harm in the form of harassment if his exact [REDACTED] is revealed. Thus, there is significant privacy interests involved in the records”.

In Spare, Harry admits that he tried cocaine at the age of 17 at a friend’s house and said that it “wasn’t much fun” or make him “particularly happy”. He added: “I was a deeply unhappy 17-year-old boy willing to try almost anything that would alter the status quo.”

In 2025, Harry faces new challenges, including how he and Meghan can maintain their lifestyle by building partnerships with corporate entities such as Netflix and others to increase their profile.

It is with Netflix that a slice of good news could lie according to royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams. He told GB News that clearly the couple were doing something right as they aim for a continuation of their relationship with the streamer.

He said: “They have to get Netflix and have to keep them on board. I think they will get something from Netflix in the future, that seems to be the sign because the head of content at Netflix appeared to be appreciating their efforts in statements so that does imply that something is going to continue with Netflix.

“I would be amazed if it was anything like what they planned when they first signed the £80million. Whatever contract comes up, it appears there’s going to be some sort of continuation but it might be peanuts compared to the £80m.”
