  1. The Jungle Book 2016 was genuinely good. Then they’ve run the train into the ground ever since.

  2. “who framed roger rabbit” was for me the last good one

  3. How about we remake movies with great plots that are cult classics instead of rehashing the memorable ones

  4. No one could have predicted. How did this happen? It’s a complete mystery…

  5. For me it’s all been downhill since Cinderella. That movie was surprisingly lovely…and damn, they actually shot on real locations with real backgrounds and stuff! Nifty!

  6. Fingers crossed this movie bombs and kill these worthless “It’s the same movie but not as good live action” remakes. I am really sick of them.

  7. I honestly think this movie wou;ld”ve been better if they ignored Dinklage and stuck with the real actors. Those CGI dwarves really are appaling to look at

Gadot is so awful and Ziegler must need orthopedic care for carrying that movie all by herself.

  8. Also why does everything need a live action remake? Moana hasn’t even been out ten years and youre telling me a live action remake of that is in the works???

  9. Im not entirely convinced this movie wasn’t made to be bad for tax purposes. I could be wrong, but i feel like the business of making movies is now less about making the best film you can and more about an accounting strategy for shareholder benefit.

  10. It feels like Disney screwed this movie up?

    1. Too much controversy over the Dwarfs. How come they didn’t just make them like Lord of the rings Dwarfs? This is a fantasy movie no need to get political.
    2. Choice in actors? Okay you get two ladies beefing and the reaction might be negative…
    3. Story was bland lacks originality. I’d say you can make a nice remake but it needs more creativity. Some movies do not need a remake.

  11. Snow White is definitely on track to become one of the worst performing live action remakes from Disney, but this title is way overdramatic.

It was only in 2019 when The Lion King remake grossed over $1.6B at the global box office on top of the Aladdin remake also grossing $1B on the very same year. Mufasa, despite its horrible opening weekend, also grossed north of $700M worldwide and that was just released in December of last year – which was less than four months ago.

  12. I enjoyed The Lion King a lot. Beauty and the Beast and The Jungle Book were fine. Not really any interest in seeing any of the others that have been made.

    Moana has potential.

  13. Live action ‘remakes’ should be more like Cruella, giving new twists to old movies.

  14. Will they continue blaming racism and sexism for their failures?

  15. *Treasure Planet* and *Atlantis* were RIGHT.THERE.

Heck, even *The Black Cauldron* could’ve benefited from a live-action remake.

But noooooo, Disney just had to ruin the classics.

  16. I’m afraid that Lilo & Stistch is going to be great and perform well and break records for them, and it’s just going to convince Disney that the Live Actions are still worth doing.

Lilo & Stitch will be an outlier, but treated as the norm.

  17. The seven dwarfs look creepy af and she does a bit too even though she is modeled after the actress.

  18. I saw the trailer/ad and it just looks so sad and uninteresting.

  19. If it makes money then that’ll keep the remakes coming.

  20. Snow White is the most boring Disney movie and already has multiple live action adaptations. We don’t need another one.

  21. They never should have done live action remakes PERIOD

Just make new fucking cartoon movies

All that money and all those resources and you can’t come up with ANY new ideas better than a live action remake literally nobody asked for?

  22. That’s like saying rotten milk peaked when it was a little less rottten.

  23. People pretending these scores for a movie people have been hating on since it was announced mean anything now are hilarious. This movie was never gonna score well regardless of its quality.

  24. Nah, I think the real issue is we have had too many live action Snow White movies and this one had like no marketing. I didn’t even know this movie was releasing

  25. And yet The Great Mouse Detective continues to languish

  26. They could, you know, put out movies that haven’t been done before. Or stop leaning on the same crap (or comic books/Star Wars) and start making something new that people will like.

  27. They also bastardized the story and put actors in lead roles who can’t act, so there’s that.

  28. Didn’t someone mention the reason they make these is to game copyright?

  29. I really like when they did alternate retelling of stories like they did with Maleficent.

  30. This movie didn’t need to be made. It felt like Disney protecting its IP more than a passion project.

Snow White, when it first came out in 1939 was amazing for its time. The animation was beautiful, crisp, and unique. Everything about that movie was made with love. Yeah, it’s not amazing by today’s standards, but at the time it pushed limits.

This movie? It’s meh. And who is going to go see an average movie when we live in a world flooded with content from all around the world. Yeah, let me just use my limited time to watch a soulless corporate movie.

The hate this movie gets is weird. It’s meh. But honestly, if your movie is so average that it’s worth more to the audience as a joke/punching bag, then it probably shouldn’t have been made.

Anyway, when I think of Disney lately I don’t think of a cutting edge studio pushing storytelling to new levels. I think of a bunch of greedy executives milking their IP for all its worth so they can maximize short term profits.

And milking products is fine. As long as you use some of that money to create new innovative products. But Disney lately is sequel, rm, rm, sequel, sequel, safe movie, repeat. How many more star wars movie can you make? How many more marvel movies do the people really want?

This movie feels more like people making fun of Disney than the movie itself.

  31. I’m sorry what was that “live action peak” exactly, the CGI lions or the CCP Mulan?

  32. Incorrect. Bob Iger needs to be removed as CEO, and finally get someone else in, along with the rest of the board. And that’s been a need for years.

  33. No live action movie has been better than the original animated film. These are blatant cash grabs from a company that has no new ideas and has squeezed every bit of life out of the properties it has bought (star wars and mcu). Do not support them until they have a complete sea change in leadership.

  34. Nothing triggers redditors more than a kids movie they don’t like.

  35. Gal Gadot can’t act that well. She just hella pretty and safe. Movies boring asf

  36. Disney’s live action originals are fine. Disneys live action *remakes* are a cash grab with some legal side effects on copyright.

  37. Artistically bankrupt – they’re out of ideas and we’re out of patience.

  38. I just didn’t want this. I also didn’t ask for Toy Story 5. Please just make new things.

  39. I still am firm in my belief that the best one is the Jungle Book from 2016. But hey that’s because, surprise surprise, when you choose to remake a weaker animated movie and make improvements on it.
