  1. The crowd watches in horror when Conan gets up to accept the honor and the orange buffoon appears and claims he deserves credit for giving it to Conan. Conan graciously takes the award and he and crowd exit the center while the orange buffoon bloviates.

  5. I love Conan but he isn’t exactly rising to the moment in taking the evil people in power to task. There was basically 1 Trump joke during the Oscars. Sure it shouldn’t be a fully political show. But politics is omni-present and we have truly evil fascist-wannabes in control so ignoring this is not reading the room.

    I expect the Kennedy centre is putting him forward now BECAUSE they know he won’t make things political and they don’t want anyone to offend Trump.

  12. Not sure if the recipient delivers a monologue but Conan could deliver a completely flat and unfunny one. Jokes don’t land, the audience coughs uncomfortably and then he withdraws from the stage.

    A performance to show displeasure at the current state of the Kennedy center. It’s a strategy other performers who agree with the idea that Center is no longer a center of excellence could follow.

  13. I heard randomly it was supposed to go to Catherine O’hara but she backed out (scheduling conflict) so Conan was their second choice.

    Which would suck if it’s true.
    If nothing else, he’s responsible for some iconic Simpsons episodes lol.
    He deserves it.
