IRELAND will face Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal in their World Cup qualifying campaign later this year.

Heimir Hallgrimsson’s men had already been drawn to face Hungary and Armenia in Group F, which begins in September.

The Portuguese sealed their place in the four-team group last night after beating Denmark 5-3 on aggregate after extra-time in their Nations League quarter-final in Lisbon.

The campaign begins with the visit of Hungary on September 6 before Ireland travel to Armenia three days later.

The Boys in Green will travel to Portugal on October 11 and host Armenia on October 14.

Ireland will host Portugal at the Aviva Stadium on November 13 and are set to end the campaign away to Hungary on November 16.

Ireland beat Hungary 2-1 at home and lost 3-0 to Portugal away in friendlies last June before both played at Euro 2024.
