WASHINGTON (TNND) — President Donald Trump and Louisiana’s Republican governor are set to give remarks Monday afternoon at the White House.
The White House didn’t disclose details of the Trump and Governor Jeff Landry happening inside he Roosevelt Room at 2 p.m. ET in the president’s schedule.
However, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt teased an economic announcement on X Monday morning, “More investments, more jobs, and more money in the pockets of hardworking Americans – all thanks to President Trump’s economic policies.”
Trump has been touting an increase in companies investing in the United States since he took office.
“We have investment the likes of which this country has never seen, already announced. And they all want to have news conferences. I don’t have enough time to have that many news conferences,” Trump told reporters from the Oval Office on Friday.
A $20 billion U.S. investment announcement is reportedly expected to happen on Monday.
andry will be with Hyundai Chairman Euisun Chung at the White House, discussing the production of the next generation of steel in the U.S. as well as expanding manufacturing in the country and job creation. According to a CNBC report, a new steel plant in Louisiana is set to hire roughly 1,500 employees and will produce steel that will be used by the automaker’s two U.S. auto plants to manufacture electric vehicles.
Hyundai’s announcement comes as companies are trying to dodge tariffs and avoid a trade war ahead of Trump’s April 2 tariff deadline.
