  3. Never mind 64 billion , try 250 billion . Who wants to go to a country run by a Cheeto dusted pathological liar who could imprison you for no reason .

Add to that the threats to Canadian and Greenland’s (Denmark) sovereignty and the breakdown in the rule of law with respect to detaining people with greencard status, revoking visas and legal status without cause, or deporting people awaiting decisions on asylum claims to prisons in other countries. I bet the cost is a lot more than $65 Billion.

    I will never go to this country as long as Trump is president (for a lack of better word… Dictator?).

    I’ll stay in Canada and visit other places.

  15. We do house/pet sitting all over the world and the overwhelming response from the sitting community is they are giving America a wide birth.

  18. US is basically a no go zone for me for the next 5+ years. 

    Remember, even if a Democrat is somehow magically elected in 2028, they wouldn’t take office till January of 2029 and the attitude of the folks in the FBI, ICE, CBP etc. doesn’t just change overnight. It takes time. 

  19. Well its good thing DOGE is onboard to save us about $20 Billion so the US is still negative $44 Billion due Trumps actions. That’s not factoring in the lost revenue from the trade wars, the lack of weapon sales to foreign companies, and also the public service members that due to be hired back since being fired illegally.

  21. This doesn’t even consider the loss of tourism from people just deciding not to visit. You already lose some just because of ideological disagreements with the current administration. Then you add on top of that the loss of tourism due to an abusive immigration policy that harasses tourists leading to travel advisories being issued by foreign nations. I would hate to be a US business that relies on foreign tourism right now.

  24. I’d say the predicted decline in the article of around 5% in the number of tourists going to the US for the year is probably too conservative, the drop is going to be far worse.

    Canadians are the largest group that go to the US and our visits were down 23% in February, a month where a lot of people would have booked trips before Trump took office and started threatening everyone and doing his best to destroy his own country while he’s at it. Once those Canadians that didn’t want to lose deposits and/or change plans have completed their trips over the next few months they won’t be booking any more. Some Canadian travel agents are reporting an 85% drop in bookings for the US. We’re super pissed at the US with all Trump’s tariffs and threats of annexation of course, a lot of us aren’t going to the US for the foreseeable future.

    The drop in tourists is going to be way more than 5% as Trump’s lunacy will only continue.
