Why is there a massive obsession having to clarify you don’t support Elon Musk?

Public perception is a strange thing.
I get people’s opinion of him has shifted massively over the last few months, but it’s a car FFS. I doubt half the people who buy Teslas would know who Elon Musk was if he was the one selling them the car.
People who buy Teslas obviously are well paid and reasonably intelligent.
There is no excuse to be buying a 251 Tesla unless you support this Nazi. A buyer 252 will be the real cut off.
I had a chat in January on a flight with a very influential political person in this country regarding transport who still thought Elon Musk was a great fella altogether even as I rolled out all the examples of him being a moron. Penny for their thoughts now. It was a few days before the sig heil.
A lot of people are very unaware at how long Musk has been an awful human and even now, many are deluded.

You generally don’t walk in a dealership and take a car home. When I got my new car, I had to pay deposit and order it about 6 months in advance, and I received it on the 6th of January, so I still got a 231 plate.
Shame!

The huge hate campaign against Elon is very recent. Too many had their head in the sand until mid Feb. People should’ve known he was a prick long before now.

Isn’t calling someone with Autism/Aspergers crazy a little ableist? I mean I think he is a total muppet but I am also neurodivergent so I would refrain from calling him crazy. And just pointing out he did the salute at the end of Jan, this person probably bought the car at the start of Jan. They are ok with his other eccentricities, but clearly not ok with the outright fascism.
Cancelled my 252 order (was ordered before the incident). I genuinely thought they were cool cars.
But I’d be embarrassed to be seen in one now. I’ll admit I didn’t know much about musk before ordering it. Just thought car was cool

Why not just buy a different car manufacturer’s badge on e-bay and stick it on the car?
Can you transfer plates? There are people in my state in the US who have plates that were originally issued decades ago on new replacement cars.
