The young and the over 50s are absolutely screwed in the Finnish job market.
I worked in the staff rental industry and… For the last 2 years it’s been dead. No jobs even for snow workers or cleaners. Companies cut corners as much as they can, supervisors are out on the field, even bosses. They can’t afford extra hands even if they need it.
Been trying to apply for a YEAR now and had no success no matter where I tried, feel completely lost and hopeless at this point

This whole situation is such a good reminder that external factors, things way beyond individual control, play a massive role in people’s success. Yeah, the most talented or well-connected folks will usually find a way even during a recession. But most people aren’t outliers. Most of us are somewhere near the middle of the bell curve with average skills, and average networks, just trying to get by. And right now, with high unemployment, weak consumer confidence, and a slow economic recovery, it’s especially rough for that middle majority. It’s not about laziness or lack of ambition. It’s structural. And I think we seriously underestimate how much luck and timing shape life outcomes.
At least in the social sector they have made it realy hard to get a summer job, you need to have your degree to get a jobb othervise “youre dont have enough experiance”. This felt good to hear after i looked for work at a place i hade been a substitute at a plsce for 2 years and two full summers…
Finland is not at a good place atm
And still we just have lazy ass unemployed and lazy ass youth.
