AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) – After a semi-truck crashed into the Batteries Plus on Paramount, the owners are left with damage and questions about their next steps.
The crash happened around 1 a.m. on Sunday when a semi truck veered off of eastbound I-40 and drove across the access road, through the Rustic Farms parking lot and into the Batteries Plus building.
NewsChannel 10 spoke to the owners of Batteries Plus after the accident and learned what their next steps will be.
“About 1:30 a.m., they finally got through to us and I made it up there at 2 a.m. to observe the devastation and yes, the truck was still in the building,” said Tracy Gomez, co-owner of Batteries Plus Amarillo. “Police everywhere. By the time I got there the driver had been pulled out by the Amarillo Fire Department, which is right across the street on Paramount.”
The Amarillo Fire Department extracted the driver from the semi and an AFD crew member rode to the hospital with him.

Mr. & Mrs. Gomez say they plan on rebuilding after the crash, as the store is deemed a complete loss.
The owners of Batteries Plus say they were told the driver’s condition is stable, but that is yet to be confirmed by local authorities or hospitals.
