  3. I articulated this to my wife years ago. I said if an actress can actually act they have a longer shelf life than just a pretty face. Without naming names on here, we came up with over a dozen A-list actresses that stopped getting work 5-6 years in because beauty typically fades and the roles dry up. That’s why Streep, Bates, Adams, Lange, Blanchett, Mirren to name a few just continue to get roles if they want to continue acting.

    The same can’t be said for men in Hollywood. Many with fair at best acting skills are able to continue acting well past what some consider their “Prime good looking years” because it’s not considered as important.

  4. If only actors could stay relevant for 5 years tops. We’ve had the same shit with the same actors for ever at this points. I wish we could have new faces and actors every 5 years. Keep things new and interesting

  6. I think older actors of both sexes are getting more work because there are fewer young competitors. Gen Y is more likely to chase fame on YouTube than Hollywood.

  7. I don’t doubt her…but the shelf life for most actors and actresses in Hollywood has to be less than 5 years. I feel like only the top 1% of on screen performers continue to get big rolls after 5 years

  8. Helps being an incredible (and physically beautiful) actress as well. Her and Theron simply don’t age.

  14. I suspect a big part of this is the prevalence and competence of cosmetic surgery and science.

  15. I appreciate seeing older women get roles, more so if they avoid the allure of the plastic surgery hatchet.
