Jewellery and art were reportedly stolen during a break-in earlier this month at the home of Prince Guillaume, the brother of Grand Duke Henri.

The flat belonging to Prince Guillaume was targeted in the burglary on 8 March, according to a report by RTL on Tuesday, which added that thieves had stolen art objects and jewellery belonging to the royal family.

In response to an enquiry from the Luxemburger Wort, the police confirmed that a property in Contern was broken into on the evening of 8 March.

“One or more unknown offenders smashed the window of a door to open it and get into the house,” a spokesperson for the police press office said. “After searching the house, the burglars fled the scene.”

The police declined to provide any further details, other than to confirm that an investigation is ongoing. “We never comment on the identity of victims or details of what was stolen in burglaries,” the spokesperson added.
