26. The EU is one of the most, if not the most successful economic and political supranational organization in human history, calling it pathetic can only be done by a fool.

    Despite the route being the predominant route that the EU uses to trade with Asia, there are American and British warships that are deployed and provide protection for the ships going through this shipping lane.

    Maybe it shocks some of the Redditors here, but one of the main criticisms of EU’s tough guy rhetoric was that they did little to counter the threat in the Red Sea, despite it affecting their primary interests. With all the talk of rearming Europe, and decoupling from America, yet again they rely on America when it matters.

30. Surely even the most naïve aren’t suprised too much. I’d say, much stronger expressions are used too. We’ve only seen a tip of the iceberg.

    But this is a failure on the US’s part – losing your allies, your influence and credibility in a matter if days will take years to build.

    They are allied to Russia now and we do nothing about it. They are playing with Ukraine and Ukrainian lives and we do nothing about it. They will take over Greenland and we will do nothing about it. They want to take over one of our and their greatest allies, Canada and we will do nothing about it. 40. However much I despise Vance he does have a point in Europe not doing enough anti piracy. Europe receives 40% of these shipments that travel through the Suez canal, we don’t do anywhere near 40% of the protection. The UK is the only European country to keep a permanent ship in the Middle East to safeguard merchant ships, other countries like France and Italy will have a ship out there sometimes. As a continent we need to do better and shouldn’t be relying on someone else to do it for us. Yes this does benefit the U because if we became poorer their trading would also shrink with us but it definitely impacts Europe more than the US

41. Yes, I think this gets too little attention. The hostility is undeniable now. It can no longer be written off as “bold politics”.

    This is just more fake indignation to distract from the fact that they don’t have a plan or even the willingness to devise a plan differet from the last 70 years.
