Someone approached me today on Żelazna Street asking for help. He said he was from Dubai and currently traveling with his family. I glanced at the passenger side and saw a blonde woman with a baby, but it was just a quick look, and I didn’t see her face clearly.
Then the man said, “I will give you this ring,” — at that point, I walked away.
After the stoplight, I noticed him approach another person. That’s when I took this picture to help inform others.
Details:
• Right-hand drive car
• He mentioned being from Dubai and traveling with family
• Offered a ring in exchange for help (classic scam approach)
Here’s a link to a similar case in the US for reference:

Around noon, he drove around Ochota and accosted people on Białobrzeska Street.
That car’s on English plates 🤷🏼♂️
Gypsies ? 99% yes
Bizarre.
Gypsys known scam
Driving an untaxed car, haha.
oh my and the luxuries they get from these scams, 15 y/o anglik passat!! i wish them luck if they ever gather the courage to overtake someone
This may sound absurd, but when it comes to these small scams (apparently, those guys can get away with such trickery because the police cannot make an arrest unless more than 400€ was stolen, so they keep trying to sell people fake jewerly for a hundo or so), I’d actually argue everyone or at least someone they know should experience something like that.
The reason is, one of my older family members got scammed in a similar manner, but it wasn’t for a paltry sum. The scammers convinced them to go to a bank and withdraw a larger sum for a set of shiny baubles, all fake of course. It’s almost a good thing the law doesn’t make these small cases of theft an impossibility just so people can develop a sense of good judgement about being approached by strangers on the streets.
Was the ring nice?
Ha ha! Classic! My sister also got a “gold ring” from the gypsies in exchange for buying a full tank of gas. They told her that they “lost their wallet”.
Spoiler: the ring was made of poor quality aluminum
At a gas station in Slovakia a car full of people pulled up. Completely veiled woman in the back with some old dude. Driver offered a “golden” ring in exchange for like 500 euro because he said his mother was sick and he was travelling from Dubai to the Netherlands to take care of her but he ran out of money. He also claimed to be a car dealer selling expensive cars in Dubai and had some sort of business card to back that up.
Nevertheless we told them no and walked away. The guy makes up countries based on your license plate (was stepping out of a car with NL plates), the business card has no actual valid information on it, he only speaks English to you, and the people in back are there to be witnesses in favor of the driver if you do something. If you take the ring they will deny it but that doesn’t matter because the money is not worth enough to be considered worth pursuing.
Likely just gypsies with their oldest trick in the book trying to scam somebody to fill up their gas tank to keep on going.
Thanks for sharing. I’ve seen people posting about similar scumbags in other countries.
