  1. Once again Russia shows how good its word is. Yesterday day say the change of currency won’t be immediate, today they say it is and it happens tomorrow. Putin’s stubbornness to send his own country into ruin is truly remarkable.

  2. Well, this would actually help politicians in Germany and elsewhere to make a very difficult decision. I’m pins and needles to see who will blink first.

  3. I would love to join the ones who laugh at this. But remember, Putin is also trying to secure Hungary and have France fall. The polls here see Le Pen getting traction due to inflation striking people’s purchasing power. Let’s be careful. We don’t want to be underestimating the perfidy of our Russian enemy.

  4. Rest of the world: **launches a coordinated nuclear attack against Russia**
    Putin: What the heck, dude?!?!?!
Rest of the world: I thought you said you want to be paid in rubbles?
    Putin: *ROUBLES*, I SAID **ROUBLES**!
Rest of the world: Whooops, my bad!

  5. ‘you must pay in rubbles or…’
    ‘Or what?’
‘Or we will get bankrupt and I will be eaten by russian people’

  6. This may be short lived, other countries want to make money too, and other nations, including the the US are ramping up (War-time like) People forget that RU tried to kill the oil market at the start of Covid, by flooding the market when demand was weak and sinking the price. Expect more floating storage on ships to be de riguer around the world.

  7. If this asshole causes us to modernize our energy sector, he will still go down in history as an asshole.

  8. lmao, it’s like he is are giving this to EU.

to stop themselves would be painful and impossible to sell to the voters.

but if these cunts break contract themselves and try to strong-arm EU I feel like everyone will jump on this.

  9. Whatever happens this is great news in the long term. Russia has proven itself completely unreliable and untrustworthy when it comes to providing energy. Even the people that wanted to keep investing aren’t going to have much of a choice with moves like this.

  10. Jesus Crist, is *Schrodinger* the one that decided what currency is to use?

Just yesterday they said that euros wold be fine

  11. Europe was given the choice between gas embargo and dishonor. We chose dishonor, and we will have the gas embargo.

  12. He knows he failed the bliztkrieg, he’s going to fail the attrition war, so now he’s forcing a short term confrontation.

  13. Props to putin. I cant be mad at my government for not cutting off the gas when he cuts it off himself. Checkmate europe or something

  14. He said this last week as well and nobody payed in rubles. Now he moved the term to tomorrow. Nobody will pay in rubles tomorrow either.

European countries don’t buy gas directly from Russia, they buy gas from intermediary distribution companies and the contracts with those companies are in euros.

If Putin wants to be payed in rubles, that’s the Russian distribution companies problem.

  15. Putin really tries to push the EU to alternative sources of power. As a Saudi dude said – the stone era doesn’t end because of the lack of stones.
